It takes the flamboyance of a Shah Rukh to confidently declare that he will win the award every year. But shy guy Hrithik is another ball game altogether. The introverted star shies away from even commenting on his own nomination. It took much persuasion to get the Roshan to speak about his much vaunted nomination (for Best Actor) at this year''s Filmfare.

Busy rehearsing for his act on the Big Night, the actor, no doubt, is back with a big bang. From being written-off by critics to this great turnaround, we ask him what magic web did he spin for this? "I''ve always believed in taking my life one ''shot'' at a time," he says, "I try to do things to the best of my ability. The rest just happens."

Sure, everything seems to be going Hrithik''s way at present. In fact, dad Rakesh Roshan was quite confident that Hrithik might have an edge over competitors (not taking away from their brilliant acts, however) for the award because of the drastically different, challenging role. "Well, we are not the ones to sit in judgement," Junior Roshan sidesteps the question, but adds, "Even if I don''t win, my joy is in being nominated and just being there on such an important day. It will certainly be great if I win, but if I don''t, I already know that the other actors are far more deserving than I am, better actors than I am — so it won''t be a disappointment at all."

Enacting such a challenging role, the thought of awards must have definitely crossed Hrithik''s mind, however fleetingly. "It did occur to me once the trials of the film began – people kept mentioning the ''National Award''... so that''s the time when I thought to myself ''Mission Accomplished!''

We couldn''t resist asking, if he were to adjudge a winner in the Best Actor category from among the remaining four, whom would he pick? "You are asking me to pick a winner?" he asks, disbelievingly. "I am an aspiring actor myself. I''m trying to be half as good as these people are. There''s no way in hell that I could sit in judgement over these fine actors. Each one of them is absolutely brilliant. And their performances are far greater than I could have ever achieved. So it''s not possible for me to judge them." That''s diplomatic Hrithik for you.

Still, expectations would be skyhigh of his next film with senior Roshan. "It''s going to be a greater challenge," the Koi Mil Gaya star admits, and adds, "and a greater victory. We''re going to put in more this time. We put in more into Koi Mil Gaya than we did in Kaho Na..., and it is time to triple that effort."

Couldn''t be better put. And with a li''l ''Jadoo'' in the pouch, it seems to be no alien thought at all!
